GxWorks commences site search for CommunityBoard as software enabling billboard ecommerce nears release
Atlanta, GA May 19, 2006 --
GxWorks announced today that it is commencing a search for digital billboard installation sites in
the Atlanta market to deploy CommunityBoard, the world's first community-controlled outdoor media.
Most digital billboard operators work with a small number of advertisers, showing the same five to ten
in a loop daily. CommunityBoard brings ecommerce to outdoor media by enabling advertisers to buy
space on the board online, directly uploading their own images, video, or event information.
CommunityBoard transforms the billboard into a form of interactive media, since the whole community
can participate. Individuals can post event announcements, photo slideshows, or even wedding proposals.
Local artists and galleries can post artwork and video, while small businessses can advertise on
outdoor media previously accessible only by larger corporations.
"CommunityBoard opens outdoor media up to everyone, transforming a billboard from a potential eyesore
into an attraction," commented Praveen Ghanta, Director of GxWorks. Mr. Ghanta continued, "Since
CommunityBoard will be able to display thousands of different messages in a given day, unlike a
handful with most digital billboards, our content will stay fresh and engaging."
GxWorks is finalizing its first release of the CommunityBoard website and controller software, which
will enable the CommunityBoard concept on new and existing digital billboards. In conjunction with
this release, GxWorks is targeting the Atlanta outdoor market for installation of an initial LED
display. GxWorks is initially targeting sites in pedestrian-friendly areas within the City of Atlanta.
While rates for advertising on CommunityBoard have not yet been finalized, the minimum purchase size
will be only $10, enabling all individuals and advertisers to participate.
